Want to go from this to this? During pregnancy the center of gravity begins to shift further from the body's midline and the body starts preparing for the upcoming birth. As a result certain tissues become more flexible, which may lead to back pain. How can this back pain be alleviated, and can the belly be supported with kinesio taping? Yes, it can, and it's definitely worth trying this taping method.

If it's your first time applying the kinesio tape onto your skin, start with a small test strip, place it on your skin and leave it for 1 hour. If you are allergic to the tape's adhesive you'll start feeling an itching sensation under the tape; however, if no side effects occur, you are good to go. The color of the kinesio tape doesn't really matter, just choose the one that fits your fashion. The biggest differences are in the adhesive. The kinesio tape can be found in many places and various prices. If your skin tolerates the adhesive on the cheaper tapes, feel free to use them, but if your skin is sensitive I highly recommend a particular kinesio tape because clients haven't given any negative feedback on it, so it's quite good.

First you need to apply two or three support strips under the belly from iliac crest to the other side. Unfortunately this requires a bit of trial and error to find the right length of tape to go under the belly. Always round off the sharp edges of the tape as they tend to roll up if the edges rub against your clothes. Apply the first strip under the belly. Tear a vertical split into the middle of the tape, peel the backing paper slightly from the edges so that you can leave a 4 cm strip in the center without any tension, place this on your skin and peel a bit more of the tape, leaving a few cm of paper at the end for securing the tape. Stretch the tape well and then slide it under the belly towards the front of the iliac crest. If you miss the length a little it's okay - if the tape extends beyond the front of the crest that is no problem. Attach the other end of the tape to the skin without any tension and repeat the same process on the opposite side.
